INTRODUCTION TO TOK

Theory of knowledge is another core aspect of the IB. The easiest way to get an understanding of Theory of Knowledge is to view it as an additional subject. In a way, it is similar to philosophy except that it is based on knowledge and the influences or links it has to different subject areas such as the natural sciences, human sciences and history.

TAdditionally, there are optional topics such as knowledge and language and knowledge and technology which are chosen by each school and are integrated into the other topics. Each topic is studied normally, and students are expected to compare different topics to each other. This includes considering methodology, scope and ethics, and promotes students´ critical thinking skills and sharing different perceptions of areas of knowledge.
